About
I am a Counselling Psychologist with thirty years experience in treating mental health issues.
I graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1992 with an honours degree in Psychology and I completed my professional training in Counselling Psychology in 1996. Subsequently, I went on to complete specialized trainings in Mindfulness, Trauma (EMDR, DBR, CRM) and Personality Disorder (Mentalization Based Therapy). I have worked for St. Patrick's (Psychiatric) Hospital in Dublin, Schizophrenia Ireland (Shine), Trinity College Dublin and the Irish Prison Service. I am a chartered member of the Psychological Society of Ireland and a member of the International Early Psychosis Association.
I have experienced life in both small rural communities and in big cities and I am aware of the challenges posed by each setting. I have a lot of experience in working with male clients and at one stage in my career, I worked almost exclusively with men. My practice is open to both men and women over the age of sixteen years.
In my therapeutic work with clients, I am mindful of all aspects of the human condition - mind, body and spirit and I bring to this work an attitude of compassion, realism and fierce determination.
